Valentine’s Day slime is a gift everyone can get into. Literally!
No matter how old you are, it’s liberating to stretch a hunk of slime between your hands. Kids love to play with gooey slime! It’s a fantastic way to keep daycare and elementary students busy.
But age has no limits when it comes to slime. Senior citizens love slime, too! Squeezing and kneading the rubbery texture can be therapeutic for the hands and mind.
I’m sure you could spend your hard-earned money on pre-made slime. But would you when it can easily be made cheaper at home?
Keep reading because I’m going to help you create a sparkly slime for everyone on your Valentine’s Day list!
Valentine’s Day Slime
What you need for Valentine’s Day slime
- 1/2 cup of Elmer’s Washable PVA Clear Glue
- 3/4 cup of liquid starch
- 1/2 cup of water
- Red food coloring
- Confetti
- Glitter glue
- Small, plastic cups (I recommend our 12 oz. Frosted Unbreakable Plastic Cup with a Valentine’s Day imprint!)
- Treat bags with Valentine’s Day designs
- Ribbon
How to make your own Valentine’s Day slime
In a bowl, combine 1/2 cup water and 1/2 cup of glue. Mix together well for several minutes.
Add red food coloring, glitter and confetti. Mix well.
Pour in the liquid starch. The slime will start to form into a more manageable blob.
Knead the slime to create a consistent texture through and through. Transfer the slime to a clean container and let it rest for approximately 3 minutes while you wash your hands.
Place the slime in individual cups for gifting. Slip each into treat bags and tie them shut with ribbons.
Troubleshooting: If your slime remains overly sticky or runny, try kneading it a little longer. If that doesn’t work, add small amounts of glue and stir until it reaches the desired consistency. Keep slime covered when not using; discard it when it changes color or odor.
No-calorie learning tool
Valentine’s Day slime might not be as enticing as a box of chocolates, but it’s certainly more fun. Creating it can be a fun and educational after-school, Scout or daycare activity.
Use the opportunity to teach students about the chemical reaction that occurs when glue is mixed with liquid starch or other ingredients.
