Life can change in an instant. No one knows that better than the family of Dustin Rutter.
Dustin of Coldwater, Ohio, was riding his motorcycle down a rural state highway in August 2015 when a woman driving an SUV turned in front of him. The motorcycle struck the side of the vehicle and Dustin was ejected. He died immediately.
One can only imagine the heartbreak his young wife, Corryna, felt when she received the news. The couple were the proud parents of a 6-week-old son, Brayden, who will never have the opportunity to go fishing or toss a football with his father.
The tragic news spread quickly throughout the community and many hearts were touched. A GoFundMe page was set up and other types of support were offered by groups and individuals — many of them strangers to the family.
“We are incredibly thankful for all of the people that have helped us or have offered a hand since this new journey has begun,” said Corryna, who is now juggling duties as a mother and part-time college student. “It means a lot to me to know that Brayden will be able to grow up and do what he wants throughout life because of all these generous people. “He's going to make his dad proud.”
To help raise money for Brayden's future education, an annual bass tournament was established. The 3rd Annual Benefit Bass Tournament is in the planning stages for 2017. A date has not yet been announced.
Dustin's sister, Alyssa Rutter, works at TotallyPromotional.com and helped organize the now annual benefit. To show support, the company donated custom can coolers for participants in the tournament.
Life is fragile and tragedy can strike anywhere, anytime. That's why TotallyPromotional.com is proud to be a part of a community that supports its residents in good times and bad.
