The holiday season is the perfect time to reflect on our blessings. But for families who struggle each day to make ends meet, Christmas can be filled with anxiety and heartache.
Last year, the staff at Totally Promotional contacted Mercer County, Ohio, Job and Family Services and discovered that many area families cannot afford personal care items such as soap and toothpaste. These things are not available through government assistance. We decided to fill the gap.
In late November 2016, Totally Promotional kicked off Project Christmas Elves 2016. We were able to provide hundreds of personal care products to 15 families and individuals.
This year we collected nearly 500 items for 16 families. As a special bonus, a grandmother of one of our employees gave hand-crafted blankets to each family. The blankets and overflowing bags were delivered on Dec. 8, 2017, and will benefit nearly 40 children and their parents.
Several extra bags of soap, bedding and paper items also were given to the JFS agency to distribute throughout the year as needed.
Elizabeth Rinderle, of JFS, said the act of giving to others has powerful repercussions.
“Any time someone in the community is able to go above and beyond for someone in need, it has a meaningful impact on that person's life and makes a difference,” Rinderle said. “The families in receipt of these bags are truly grateful and appreciative of the idea of fellow community members caring enough to take the time and effort to gift these items to them.”
The Totally Promotional staff is grateful to JFS for helping us meet our Project Christmas Elves 2017 goal!
Merry Christmas to all!
